Efficient interaction between Belgorodenergo and the Ministry of Emergency Situations allowed to quickly restore power supply to consumers

04.02.2019

Thanks to the effective cooperation of employees of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division and the specialized fire and rescue unit of the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Belgorod region, it was possible to restore the power supply to consumers in Alekseyevsky district in bad weather.

On Sunday, 3 February, a strong wind, sticking of sleet on wires, and intensive frost formation triggered a break in power lines and a power outage for residents of villages of Alekseyenkovo, Vorobyevo and Menyaylovo in Alekseyevsky district. Socially significant facilities were not included in the interruption area.

12 emergency recovery crews, consisting of 34 people, equipped with necessary tools and 18 specialized vehicles, quickly began responding to the disaster. For quick power supply, 5 backup power supply sources were prepared. Because of strong snowdrifts in the area of the village of Menyaylovo, access to the interrupted sections was difficult, so the power engineers appealed to the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Belgorod region with a request to provide specialized transport. To assist the crews, the rescuers dispatched staff and equipment from the fire and rescue unit of the Belgorod region to the site of the resulting technological disruption. The EMERCOM’s employees took the crew to the fault area and helped with snowmobiles to survey the area in order to detect wire breaks.

Thanks to the joint work of the operational services, the power supply in the villages was restored as soon as possible. According to Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational-Technological and Situational Management - Head of the Grid Control Centre of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division Alexey Bryazgunov, the effective cooperation of the departments allows to act more quickly and eliminate the effects of natural disasters as quickly as possible, which is especially important in the season of low temperatures, when the well-being and comfort of consumers depend on the electricity supply.
