Smolenskenergo reminds of respect for energy facilities

15.01.2019

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division reminds that criminal liability is provided for deliberate decommissioning of power facilities. In order to prevent damage to power line elements, power engineers warn hunters and intruders about the inadmissibility of damage to power line elements with firearms. It is worth remembering that for damage to elements of power lines there is criminal liability under Art. 215.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Damaging life support facilities”. This article of the law states that destruction, damage or otherwise bringing energy facilities into the state unsuitable for operation, if these actions were committed with mercenary or hooligan motives, is punishable by a fine in the amount of one hundred thousand to five hundred thousand rubles or in the amount of wages or other convict’s income for a period of one to three years, either by compulsory labour for up to four hundred and eighty hours, or by correctional labour for up to two years, or by forced labour for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same period.

If the actions of the perpetrators caused the negligence to kill the person, the punishment would be forced labour for up to five years or imprisonment for up to seven years with a fine of up to eighty thousand rubles, or in the amount of wages or other income of the convicted person for up to six months or without it.

It is worth remembering that the electric current carries a danger to human life and health if mistreated. Power engineers once again draw the attention of the population about the danger of electricity: when approaching the live parts of electrical installations, a person can be fatally injured.

Compliance with electrical safety rules will help not only to avoid accidents near electrical installations and overhead power lines, but also to ensure the safety of electrical grids and prevent technological disruptions. In this regard, it is important to remember that officials and citizens guilty of disrupting the normal operation of electrical grids are held responsible in accordance with the procedure established by law.

Smolenskenergo urges to immediately report any damage to electrical installations and power lines by the phone line of power engineers of IDGC of Centre at 8 800 50 50 115 (free of charge, around the clock), to law enforcement agencies or the administration of an urban or rural settlement.
