Tambovenergo warns: criminal punishment for deliberate damage to insulators on poles of power lines with a firearm!

During the hunting season in the service area of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division, cases of damage to power supply equipment with the use of firearms have become more frequent. In most cases of the shooting of insulators of power lines, experts find shells of cartridges from hunting weapons at the scene. Aiming at wires and insulators, ill-minded people do not assume that this is a criminal offense.

According to Art. 215.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, destruction, damage or otherwise bringing energy, telecommunications, housing and utilities or other livelihood facilities into the state unsuitable for operation, if these actions were committed with mercenary or hooligan motives, is punished with imprisonment up to 3 years or a fine in the amount from one hundred to five hundred thousand rubles.

Tambovenergo reminds that the theft of electricity, penetration into electrical installations, causing damage to power grid equipment certainly carry a danger not only for offenders, but also for a huge number of residents. At the moment, when damage to material property is inflicted, the power supply of thousands of consumers, including social and strategic important - hospitals, boiler houses, production facilities, schools and kindergartens, is at risk. Cases of energy terrorism are especially dangerous in winter, when even a short-term power outage leads to large-scale consequences.
