Employees of Belgorodenergo celebrated the Power Engineers’ Day

21.12.2018

By the professional holiday power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division summed up the outgoing year, outlined plans for the future, and the best received awards for results achieved.

The current year has become a landmark for Belgorodenergo. In December, the government of the region and IDGC of Centre signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of development of the regional electric grid complex, approved a strategy and a roadmap for digital transformation of the regional electric grids. The power engineers set a large-scale task to achieve within three years 100% automation and telemechanization of distribution grids supplying socially significant consumers, to fully modernize remote control devices at substations of 35-110 kV, equip 110 kV lines with special devices for fault location, install smart metering devices at 100% of transformer substations, fully automate the management of outdoor lighting in Belgorod. The result of such a massive digital transformation of grids will be increased reliability of electricity supply to consumers, and therefore, the quality of life of Belgorod residents.

Quality of life is provided by many factors, some of which are the availability of grid infrastructure and uninterrupted power supply. The branch annually invests billions of rubles in the construction and reconstruction of the region’s power grid equipment. It is these investments that make it possible to implement large-scale projects in the Belgorod region, which become the basis of the region’s economic development. In 2018, the investment program of Belgorodenergo amounted to 2.7 billion rubles. 86.7 MVA of new capacity were put into operation, about 600 km of power lines were constructed and reconstructed. Fixed assets are aimed at improving the reliability of grids, the reconstruction of power supply centres, the construction of power supply grids in individual housing construction, the modernization of old grids of 0.4-10 kV, the execution of contracts for grid connection.

This year, the new, 181st, modern 110 kV substation “Vatutinskaya” in Valuysky district, named after the native of Valuysky district, an outstanding commander of the Great Patriotic War, General of the Army, Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolay Vatutin, was commissioned. In Stary Oskol, the first stage of reconstruction of the 110 kV substation “Promyshlennaya”, providing power supply to a number of large consumers, was completed; as well as complete modernization of equipment and automated systems using digital substation technologies.

Under the program of technical re-equipment and reconstruction, about 210 km of power lines passing through the territory of villages and settlements in the region have been modernized. More than 420 million rubles were allocated for the reconstruction of grids and optimization of power supply circuits.

For 11 months, the branch executed more than 6 thousand contracts for grid connection with a total capacity of 146 MW, providing electricity to more than 100 social institutions and 10 large facilities of the agro-industrial complex of the region.

Lighting is the first thing that comes to plots distributed for individual construction. This year, owners of 1,200 plots in 14 housing estates of individual housing construction got the opportunity to connect to the centralized power supply, and since 2005, more than 71,000 plots have been provided with electricity.

In addition to the development of grids, the power engineers maintained a decent state of the existing equipment. They repaired 50 high-voltage substations of 35-110 kV, over 400 kilometres of power lines and 838 transformer substations of 6-10 kV, 632 hectares of ROWs along power lines were cleared and expanded from trees. 237.8 million rubles were allocated for the implementation of the repair program, which is 1.9 million more than 2017.

Thanks to the work done, Belgorodenergo received in due time the Certificate of Readiness for the autumn-winter period and currently continues providing reliable power supply to consumers in the region.

This year, the power engineers not only engaged in the operation and development of the Belgorod region’s grids, but also provided assistance to colleagues from other regions. Employees of Belgorodenergo took part in the large-scale exercises of ROSSETI’ Group of Companies, helping their colleagues significantly improve the quality of power supply to consumers in the Republic of Dagestan and settlements of the Tver region.

For the results achieved, more than 200 employees of Belgorodenergo on the Power Engineers’ Day were awarded departmental, industry, regional and corporate awards.

In handing the awards, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov stressed: “Power engineers have always been distinguished by high professionalism and great responsibility. Behind each is a team of friendly and professional people who are ready to come to the rescue at any time. And today, on your professional holiday, you are on duty, providing uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the region.” Special words of gratitude were addressed to veterans of the energy industry - for the safety reserve and reliability of the regional power system they created.
