Belgorodenergo awarded winners of the competition “Energy and Man” - 2018

The ceremony of awarding winners of the annual competition of children’s projects “Energy and Man” took place at IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division. 20 schoolchildren from schools of the region, who presented the best projects on the subject of electrical safety, innovation and respect for energy resources, received well-deserved awards.

This year the competition, established by Belgorodenergo with the support of the Department of Education of the region and the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, was attended by more than 70 young researchers aged from 7 to 17 from 16 districts of the region. In their practical and theoretical work, the guys tried to answer topical issues of industry development, including innovations in the grid complex, energy efficiency, implementation of alternative energy sources, and other areas of perspective development of science and technology. The participants passed school, municipal and regional selection. According to the results of the open defense of projects, 20 people became winners and prize-winners, who managed to convince the jury of the relevance of their chosen topic and the depth of its study.

Evgenia Kovalevskaya, Chief Specialist of the Department of Educational Activities Support at the Department of Education of the Belgorod Region, and Director of the Institute of Energy, Information Technologies and Control Systems at the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Alexander Belousov congratulated the children on the successfully implemented projects. He endorsed the children’s desire to engage in the exact sciences and recalled that the winners and prize-winners of the competition will receive additional points when they enter the University of Technology.

Among the 9-11 grades, Kirill Belyaev from the Soldatskaya Secondary School in Rakityansky District, who presented the research and practical application of the Peltier element, and a pupil of Razumenskaya Secondary School No. 1 Dmitry Korneev with the project “Energocarousel”, became the best. The second place went to Dmitry Sokolov from Gubkin Lyceum No. 5 with the project “Roboenergo” and Ilya Shamrayev from the Pyatnitskaya School of Volokonovsky District, who explored the use of unconventional energy sources in the Belgorod region. For the development of a universal charger, Mikhail Bugayev from School No. 5 in Valuyki won a bronze award, and Denis Protsenko from Novooskolsky School No. 2 took the third place, presenting a project to modernize street lighting in the town of Novy Oskol.

In the middle age category, the research work on the influence of electric current on a human body of a pupil of Stary Oskol Gymnasium No. 18 Rostislav Storozhev, and the project “Smart House” of a pupil of the Centre for Technological Education and Children’s Technical Creativity of the City of Belgorod Yaroslav Ermak became the leaders in terms of the scores. Pavel Vetrov from School No. 16 in Gubkin received a silver award for the energy efficiency stand he created, and Maxim Shaidorov from Belgorod School No. 11 took the 2nd place with the project “Smart Energy in the City of the Future”. Diplomas of the 3rd degree were won by Oleg Klisch from Razumenskaya School No. 2 with the project “Efficiency of implementation of an electricity saving device “Electricity Saving Box” and Vsevolod Rudenko, who proposed an alternative source of electricity from the Peltier element.

In the younger age group, the best projects were from Alexander Romanov “At the beginning was the wheel ...” (Komsomolskaya Secondary School of Belgorodsky District) and Artem Abrosimov “Secrets of the kingdom “Elektrius” (Progymnasium No. 51 of the city of Belgorod). The second place was shared by Semyon Mikhailovsky (Secondary School No. 3 of the town of Alexeyevka) with the project “Isn’t it clear that it is dangerous?!”, Elisey Karyuchenko (Secondary School No. 1 of the city of Gubkin) and Maria Ivanova (Dubovskaya School of Belgorodsky District). Alexey Dyagilev from Secondary School No. 18 of the city of Stary Oskol was awarded the 3rd degree diploma for the project “Smart House”, Maxim Logachev (Razumenskaya Secondary School No. 1) - for the work “If it reduces somewhere, then it will increase somewhere”, Andrey Shinkarenko (Secondary School No. 3 of the town of Alexeyevka) - for the project “Energy independence of a private house”.

Alexander Belousov, the deputy director for capital construction of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division, rewarding the winners, said: “The power industry today is on the verge of a grandiose transformation. Next year, a large-scale project on digitalization of the electric grid complex will begin in our region. And this means that the usual equipment will be replaced by digital equipment and intelligent automated systems. The power grid complex will become high-tech, progressive and intellectual. And only competent, well-educated people and professionals can manage it. Learn, try your strength, and then come to work with us. The industry needs professionals.”

Please, be reminded that the annual children’s competition "Energy and Man" has been held in the region since 2015. It is aimed at increasing the level of schoolchildren’s knowledge of electrical safety, efficient use of energy, the search for innovative solutions in the field of energy, the promotion of gifted children. During the years of the competition, more than 320 schoolchildren took part in it, many of whom would like to link their lives with the exact sciences. Energy specialists see these talented children as future colleagues and are ready to assist in the formation of professional skills of those who are to determine the future development of the regional grid complex.
