From modernization to digitalization: power engineers improve the regional grid complex

03.12.2018

Lipetskenergo retrofitted control stations in districts of the region.

Four dispatch points were upgraded by IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division in 2018. Modern operational information hardware and software was installed in Usmansky, Dobrovsky, Khlevensky and Izmalkovsky districts. Dispatchers online monitor the operation of equipment at substations. Thus, today already 10 out of 18 dispatch points of Distribution Zones are equipped with modern operational information systems, the rest are controlled by telemetric radio systems.

“This modernization will make it possible in the future to easily move from the information system to the system for managing the Distribution Zone. If today the dispatcher simply monitors the state of electrical facilities, then with the installation of additional equipment, he will be able to manage them from his workplace: switch lines, remove them for repair,” said the head of the corporate and technological automated control systems of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division Evgeny Federyakin.

Power engineers confidently move towards digitalization of the power grid complex of the Lipetsk region. This year 100% observability of substations of 35-110 kV will be provided. The share of remotely controlled substations will reach 82%.

“The digitalization of technological processes is the answer to the demand for improving the quality and reliability of power supply. Modern grid management systems, due to the analysis of the technical condition, remove the problematic equipment for repair before it stops working. And we are faced with the task of constructing “smart grids” in the region in a very short time,” commented the IT unit’s work the director of Lipetskenergo Sergey Koval.

Work on the modernization of the 110/35/10 kV substation “Lebedyan” with transition to digital technologies will begin already in the new year, where self-diagnostics functions will be implemented with early detection of defects.
