Employees of Kurskenergo effectively combat electricity losses

29.11.2018

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division for 10 months of 2018 transmitted 2.59 billion kWh of electricity, while losses in comparable conditions against the same period last year decreased by 11.4 million kWh, which is 0.39% of the supply to the grid. For example, this volume is enough to provide Manturovsky district of the Kursk region with a population of 12 thousand people with electricity for 6 months.

Such indicators were achieved thanks to the systematic work of employees of the branch “Kurskenergo”, which includes a whole range of activities.

The main measure to reduce losses in the distribution grid of 10-0.4 kV is to identify facts of non-metered electricity consumption. Thus, since the beginning of the current year, 1.6 million kWh of non-contractual and 3.1 million kWh of non-metered electricity consumption have been identified.

Other measures were aimed at reducing grid losses by implementing new and modernizing existing electricity metering systems, as well as equipping consumers’ electricity metering devices with antimagnetic seals.

In addition, technical losses arising in the process of power transmission were reduced by replacing wires with a larger cross-section on overloaded power lines and uninsulated wires to self-supporting insulated wire (SIW) in places of the greatest power losses. Also, at new construction and reconstruction of power facilities of the branch, energy-efficient power transformers with reduced no-load losses were used.

In general, the positive effect from the implementation of measures to reduce electricity losses for 10 months of 2018 amounted to about 7.4 million kWh.
