Kurskenergo hosted an open doors day for students of specialized educational institutions

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division held the regular Open Doors Day. The event was attended by about 200 students from 10 specialized higher and secondary educational institutions of the region, heads of enterprises and representatives of the administration of the Kursk region.

The guys got acquainted with the branch “Kurskenergo”, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in December, they started at the Museum of the History of Energy of the Kursk Region, where specialists from Kurskenergo’s public relations department told them about the people who were at the origin of the regional power system, its formation and development.

Then the students were shown a film about Kurskenergo, from which they learned about the role of the enterprise’s staff in the socio-economic development of the region, modernization of electrical equipment, implementation of the best practices in power safety and energy saving.

The official part of the event was held in the branch’s assembly hall. Director of Kurskenergo Alexander Rudnevsky addressed the audience: “Kurskenergo has a rich history and labour traditions. Today you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the enterprise from the inside, ask questions to experts, see what our team lives with. Here, with honest and conscientious work, much can be achieved,” he stressed.

First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of Kurskenergo Vyacheslav Istomin, Head of the HR department Lyudmila Mokrousova, Head of the customer relations department Natalia Bocharova, Chairman of the Youth Council of the enterprise Oleg Pavlov told the students about the specifics of work in the energy industry, about the prospects for development of the distribution grid complex of Kurskenergo, social guarantees provided by the company to young professionals, opportunities for development of creative abilities, as well as about the services provided by the energy company to consumers.

In addition, the employees of the branch showed their creative talents to the audience: they showed the future power engineers the play “Snowfall”, dedicated to the unpredictability of the profession, mutual assistance of the power engineers.

At the end of the event, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Housing and Public Utilities and Fuel and Energy Complex of the Kursk Region Nikolay Tretyakov shared his views on what he saw: “Kurskenergo provides uninterrupted power supply to hundreds of enterprises, organizations of the region and almost the entire population of the region. The organization needs an influx of young specialists, and career guidance work, which is always conducted at a high level in the branch, gives a good result: 80% of Kurskenergo’s staff are graduates of universities and specialized educational institutions present here.”

All representatives of the educational institutions expressed thanks to the leadership of Kurskenergo for an interesting and fruitful meeting. In particular, Head of the Electric Power Supply Department of South-West State University Alexey Gorlov stressed: “For many students, the today’s meeting is not only an acquaintance with the history of the branch, but also a kind of immersion in the future profession. We were shown its different sides, and the future power engineers liked what they saw.”

Open doors days are held at Kurskenergo annually, with the aim of attracting young promising specialists to the company and popularizing the energy profession among students and schoolchildren.
