Since the beginning of the year, power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division have carried out 1,205 measurements of electricity quality indicators.
In order to obtain reliable measurement results for commercial and technical metering of electricity for the period from January to September 2018, power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division conducted 1,094 control checks of the quality indicators of electric energy both at power facilities of the branch and at facilities of enterprises - customers, of which 111 inspections of power quality indicators were unscheduled on the basis of received consumers’ complaints about power quality.
The causes of violations of power quality indicators may be the condition of power supply systems, as well as consumers’ or utility electrical networks. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the dependence of electrical connections (overhead power lines) on external factors and weather conditions affecting the quality of power supply and electricity indicators. In the process of identifying existing and potential problems with power quality, timeliness of their solution is extremely important. Otherwise, they can get out of control and cause a malfunction or damage to electrical equipment.
Diagnosing the quality of electricity for compliance with established standards is a complex task requiring high-quality specialized equipment. All measuring instruments were certified in accordance with requirements of GOST 32144-2013. Currently, the fleet of Lipetskenergo’s specialists includes 31 units of modern devices, such as “Proryv-KE-A”, “Proryv-T-A”, “Resurse-UF2M”, which provide ample opportunities for analyzing power quality indicators. Since the beginning of the year, 645 measuring instruments were prepared and sent to the certified centre of standardization and metrology, the branch calibrated 376 measuring instruments, including 15 instruments of power quality analyzers. The purpose of the measures taken to ensure metrological assurance and measurement of the quality indicators of electricity transmitted through the grids of Lipetskenergo is to ensure the required accuracy and uniformity of measurements in the transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as improving the quality of power supply to consumers.
“Today, high requirements are set in terms of the quality of electricity, and there can be a lot of sources for violation of current parameters. This creates increased risks for the company and requires special attention to diagnosing the quality of electricity transmitted by Lipetskenergo and metrological support of production,” stressed Vadim Yakovlev, the head of the department of metrology and electricity quality of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division.
