On 5 October 2018, the senior dispatcher of Dukhovschinsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division Alexey Sinitsky was awarded at the solemn meeting devoted to the 86th anniversary of civil defense. He received the Medal of the EMERCOM of Russia “For Life Saving on the Water” from the hands of the Chief of the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Smolensk region Alexey Nazarko.
The incident happened on 28 May 2018 on the outskirts of the town of Dukhovschina on the Zimovets River. The power engineer rescued two twin brothers who drowned, pulling them from the bottom of the river and performing resuscitation actions. Before the arrival of the ambulance the boys managed to regain consciousness.
Alexey Sinitsky has been working at Smolenskenergo for almost 20 years. The work of power engineers is associated with a great responsibility for the lives of people, the need for quick decisions. Smolensk power engineers have repeatedly demonstrated the indifference to another person’s grief. For example, promptly localizing the problem in a cafe on the Moscow-Minsk highway in 2014 or saving the lives of those injured in a traffic accident in the Monastyrschinsky district in 2015.
