Fighting electricity losses is among the main tasks of Smolenskenergo

IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division conducts systematic work to combat the theft of electricity. To identify and prevent facts of unauthorized energy consumption, experts from Smolenskenergo implement a set of control and technical measures.

These include installation of anti-magnetic seals on electricity metering devices. These devices make it possible, at the stage of visual inspection, to reveal a fact of exposure to a magnetic field, resulting in a distortion of the energy consumption indicators (this method is often used by dishonest consumers). A sign of non-metered consumption with the use of a magnet is a violation of magnetic field indicator seals - an “exploded” seal.

For 8 months of 2018, Smolenskenergo’s employees installed 7,806 antimagnetic seals on consumers’ metering devices.

Cases of unauthorized energy consumption are also detected in the course of targeted raids regularly carried out by Smolenskenergo’s employees. Thus, due to the installed signs of visual control (anti-magnetic seals) for 8 months 31 cases of non-metered power consumption were identified due to the integrity of the specified type of seals in the amount of 147 thousand kW/h or 347 thousand rubles. According to the revealed facts, acts of non-metered energy consumption were drawn up. Most unscrupulous consumers chose to pay damages in the pretrial order.
