Kurskenergo’s specialists teach children the basics of electrical safety

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continue the regular work on prevention of electric injuries among children and adolescents. An important part of this work is lessons of electrical safety, which the power company conducts in general educational institutions of the Kursk region throughout the year.

The next lesson of was conducted by power engineers for schoolchildren of the municipal state-owned educational institution "Lobazovskaya Secondary General School" in Oktyabrsky district of the Kursk region. It was attended by pupils of grades 1-10.

The branch’s specialists told the children about the role of electricity in human life and why it is important to follow the rules of safe handling. Also, the guys learned why it is dangerous to play near power lines, climb their poles and do selfies, approach dangling wires, break into premises of transformer substations. The power engineers explained to the guys the meaning of prohibiting and warning signs installed on electrical equipment, demonstrated means of protection and equipment of an electrician. At the end of the lesson, the children watched thematic cartoons about the importance of compliance with the electrical safety rules.

For senior pupils, the employees of the branch conducted a practical lesson on training the skills of first aid to a victim with electric shock on the "Gosha" dummy simulator.

Director of the Lobazovskaya School Nina Mezentseva thanked the specialists of Kurskenergo for the useful and rich meeting, noting the importance of such events: "Such activities make it possible to inform children in an accessible way about the importance of observing the elementary safety rules that can preserve their health and life."

Kurskenergo conducts thematic sessions within the framework of IDGC of Centre’s comprehensive program to reduce risks of injuries to third parties. Annually more than 3,000 children take part in them.
