Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division worked out actions in the event of a power failure in the winter.

Two-day joint exercises were held in the Lipetsk region to eliminate massive power outages at the region’s grid facilities in low temperature conditions. Operational services of the region thus prepare for the winter. IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division organized emergency and recovery work in cooperation with the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Lipetsk region, a branch of SO UES Lipetsk Regional Dispatch Office, a branch of FGC UES - Upper-Don PMES and other energy enterprises in the region, as well as with local authorities.

According to the plan of the exercises, there was a heavy snowfall in Chaplyginsky district at night. As a result of sticking wet snow and falling trees on the Conductor-10kV "Maykovo" there was a power outage of consumers in three villages. At 10:00 am, repair crews, as well as specialists of other services, were sent to the place of technological violation. For two hours the power engineers were restoring power supply of 276 private houses and a farm. On the same day, the power engineers worked out actions when electricity was cut off in a secondary school after the "ice rain" that had passed in the region. For an hour the educational institution was connected to a diesel generator, the fault on the line was located, the electricity supply was restored.

On the second day of the special exercises, the operational services and power engineers worked out the interaction with a pole destruction on the line and an emergency situation at the substation. It took Lipetskenergo’s employees no more than two hours to eliminate the training emergencies.

Vladimir Tikhonov, Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division, noted the coherence of the actions of all the participants:

"The main task of these large-scale exercises was to work out the interaction between various structures responsible for the livelihood of the residents of the Lipetsk region. In addition, our crews checked their readiness to eliminate emergency situations. In a critical situation, clear understanding of the order of actions can be a decisive factor for rapid restoration of electricity supply to consumers," said the power engineer.

Based on the results of the exercises, it was concluded that the goals and objectives of the special exercises were achieved. Dispatchers, first responding mobile crews, the management staff of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division, worked for the assessment "good".
