To increase the reliability of power supply to consumers in the region, as well as to minimize the time of interruption of power supply to consumers connected with location of a faulty section of the grid, IDGC of Centre pays particular attention to the innovative development of grids, the implementation of modern technologies, and the use of the latest developments in the power grid complex. Ideas of such developments are often born directly from experience and daily work.
So, employees of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division were asked to apply a fault indicator (the FI). It allows to create a simple and reliable technical means for identifying faulty sections in the distribution grid in case of a short circuit, according to the position of indicators, recorded at inspections of distribution points and transformer substations in emergency situations. At the same time, the FI design is easy to manufacture.
Authors of the idea of using this device in the distribution grid of 6-10 kV were the chief of Safonovsky Distribution Zone of Smolenskenergo Pavel Mikheev and the leading engineer of the grid development office of Smolenskenergo Anton Krayev.
"Practical application of the FI first began in Yartsevsky Distribution Zone, which I headed at that time. The indicator is installed in distribution and transformer points, contains a plate made of a material with ferromagnetic properties and a flag fixed on a plate spring to the plate, which is attached to the vertical element of the bus," commented Pavel Mikheev.
Pavel Mikheev was engaged in practical application and direct implementation into the daily work of the short-circuit current indicator, while Anton Krayev compiled technical documentation and calculation of economic efficiency.
The proposal "Short-circuit current indicator" is recognized as rationalization and recommended for distribution in IDGC of Centre. The authors of the development in accordance with the Regulation on Innovation Activity of IDGC of Centre were issued a certificate for the rationalization proposal.
