Tambovenergo’s specialists took part in a training seminar on working with self-supporting insulated wire

24.09.2018

A training seminar was held in Tambov for 34 specialists of crews of the office of distribution grids of all Distribution Zones of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division. The seminar was conducted on the site of the training centre of the branch and was devoted to methods of construction and operation of overhead power lines using self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). The event was held to improve the skills of Tambovenergo’s personnel.

The event consisted of theoretical and practical parts. The Tambov power engineers got acquainted with technical solutions for the design and operation of overhead lines (Conductors) with the use of self-supporting insulated wire and aluminum wire with a steel core (AS) for 0.4-110 kV overhead power lines, together with accessories for self-supporting insulated wire.

The theoretical part included the study of the nomenclature of various types of line accessories for low and medium voltage overhead power lines and devices for conducting assembly works with self-supporting insulated wire. The practical part included training in the work on the running-off operation of 0.4 kV SIW, its anchor and intermediate fixing on poles, the execution of customers’ taps and the connection of the SIW in the span. The power engineers were able to independently perform a number of operations for the installation of overhead power lines and in practice to assess the advantages of the proposed solutions.

"Tambovenergo successfully solves the problem of increasing the level of professional training of personnel, advanced technologies, implemented at power facilities, are regularly familiarized with. The use of self-supporting insulated wire instead of conventional wire on power lines allowed the branch to significantly improve the level of reliability and safety of electricity supply to consumers, reduce maintenance costs, significantly increase the standard lifetime of overhead lines, and minimize commercial losses of electric power on overhead lines," stressed Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division director Nikolay Bogomolov.
