In August 2018, on the site of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division there was a review contest of protective equipment and devices, in which 14 suppliers took part. During the review, the best samples of protective equipment were selected, which will be recommended for purchase for the needs of branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.
The commission, consisting of employees of production safety and industrial control departments, safety services of 20 branches of the companies, assessed the quality and convenience of the application of the proposed product samples. The organizational committee included Deputy Chief Engineer - Head of the Department of Production Safety and Industrial Control of IDGC of Centre Yury Ignatenko, Head of the Production Safety and Industrial Control Office of the Department of Production Safety and Industrial Control of IDGC of Centre Elena Kalinina, Head of the Production Safety Department of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Pavel Astafiev.
During the review contest, the samples were tested in the field for strength and ease of operation.
Evaluation of products was made without indicating their suppliers and exhibited under numbers. At the same time, special attention was paid to design features, reliability and ease of use.
The most interesting samples were provided in the lot for the supply of protection against falling from height (slings for positioning with the mechanism of length regulation, blocking devices of the retracting type) made of lightweight materials and using new solutions, which reduced the weight of the devices.
Also, an anchor device was provided at the inspection to ensure safety when working at 35/110 kV substation disconnectors. This device caused the greatest interest and the biggest discussion among the professionals, since the protection of workers from falling from a height is given a separate, special attention.
The practice of holding contests has existed in the company for many years and gives positive results, since the selection of personal protective equipment is entrusted to specialists who are experts in the field of safety.
