In the Lipetsk region actions were worked out in the event of a massive power outage

23.08.2018

At 9:00 am, the Grid Control Centre of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division received a condition to occur: as a result of heavy precipitation in the form of wet snow, as well as wind up to 28 metres per second, one of poles of the 110 kV overhead line "Usman Left", "Usman Right" fell, in Usmansky district there were massive interruptions in the distribution network. So, for the Lipetsk power engineers a joint training with Federal Grid Company (FGC UES) and the forestry department began for restoration work.

A power line crew left for the site. The conditionally damaged pole was located, a new one was delivered to the site from the emergency warehouse. Vehicles, given by FGC UES, necessary for the work, arrived at the planned time.

There were several objectives of the training: the development of clear conduct of operational talks by several grid companies, the ability of personnel to make quick decisions and to eliminate the failure in compliance with the safety rules.

"As a result of the prompt actions of the power engineers of the two large grid companies and the organizations involved, the electricity supply to consumers was restored as soon as possible. The result confirmed the readiness of the energy companies of the region to efficiently cooperate in the elimination of technological violations. However, our company will not finish preparing for the autumn-winter period with it. In September, one more large-scale exercise will take place that will allow us to work out all necessary actions to ensure the reliable functioning of the power system of the Lipetsk region in a difficult climatic period," said Vladimir Tikhonov, Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division.

Based on the results of the training, the participants received a positive evaluation. The regular conduct of such joint exercises makes it possible to achieve a coherent action in eliminating consequences of emergency situations at energy facilities, which means that it is more effective to respond to challenges of bad weather and to more quickly restore the electricity supply to consumers.
