Belgorodenergo commissioned two charging stations for electric vehicles

09.08.2018

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division installed two charging stations on the "Belgorod-Pavlovsk" highway in Korochansky district. The project was implemented within the framework of the All-Russian program for development of infrastructure for electric vehicles of PJSC "Rosseti".

The technical solution for combining traditional grid facilities with charging infrastructure was developed by specialists of IDGC of Centre. Transformer substations are equipped with two terminals for charging electric vehicles, a transformer overload monitoring system and, among other things, provide power to the exterior lighting of the motorway. The capacity of one three-phase outlet is 22 kW, the total capacity of the package transformer substation is 160 kVA. The maximum charging time for today is four hours. However, according to experts, the market continues to increase the capacity of internal charging modules (converters) of electric cars, which soon will achieve 70-80 percent of the battery capacity in just half an hour. In addition, a technical solution is being developed with deployment of more powerful DC charging stations.

As noted by deputy director for sale and development of services of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division Alexander Kosolapov, the charging stations were installed out of the city not accidentally. Thus, the branch tried to eliminate the freedom of movement of electric vehicles between settlements. "Our grids run along roads almost everywhere. They can be connected to transformer substations with built-in chargers. So, owners of electric vehicles will no longer be limited in the ability to travel beyond the radius of their car’s mileage," he stressed.

The charging stations have all chances to become popular in the very near future. Belgorodenergo will provide free charging service for electric cars at the pilot project stage. To do this, it is enough for the owner to obtain an identification RFID card in the Customer Service Centre.

According to unofficial data, now on the roads of the region there are nine electric vehicles. However, in the coming years their number may grow, especially if the charging infrastructure develops.
