Since the beginning of the year Kurskenergo’s specialists identified the theft of electricity for more than 2 million rubles

09.07.2018

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continues regular work to identify facts of non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. One of the most effective measures is raids, during which employees of the branch inspect power lines and meters for illegal connections.

For 5 months of the current year, Kurskenergo’s specialists revealed 145 facts of theft of electricity with a total volume of 1.1 million kWh. The amount of damage was more than 2 million rubles. Following the results of 5 months of 2018, the branch of Kurskenergo sold under acts of non-metered consumption (payment was received) for more than 1.9 million rubles.

The energy company reminds that the legislation provides for a strict punishment for energy thieves. In case of detection of theft of electricity, the violator not only compensates for the damage to the power grid company, but is also brought to criminal or administrative responsibility with payment of a fine. It should be noted that since 1 January 2016, Russia has tightened administrative responsibility for energy theft. In particular, the amount of fines for unauthorized connection and use of electricity has been increased.

Bona fide consumers, who regularly pay bills for electricity, suffer greatly from criminal acts of violators: because of thefts, there are voltage fluctuations in the grid, household appliances are out of order, the probability of failures, fires and accidents increases.

Kurskenergo refers to residents of the Kursk region with a request to pay bills for electricity in good faith, not to use devices that can distort the actual consumption of electricity, and report on known facts of energy theft via the hot line at 8-800-50-50-115, or by sending messages by phone +7 915-38-000-38 in Telegram and Viber (all calls and messages are toll-free), as well as in Distribution Zones.
