Employees of Tverenergo on the Day of Memory and Sorrow paid tribute to the memory of fallen warriors of the Great Patriotic War

22.06.2018

Every year, on the Day of Memory and Sorrow 22 June, active members of the Youth Council and staff of Tverenergo gather at 4:00 am, to honour the memory of those who defended our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War, to learn more about those terrible years.

This year Tver power engineers drove a column and visited several memorial graves: the Victory Obelisk, the fraternal military grave in the village of Migalovo of the regional capital, memorials in the villages of Nekrasovo and Shulgino, where this year on the eve of the Day of the Great Victory Tverenergo’s staff conducted a Saturday clean-up event and restoration work. Tverenergo’s employees observed a minute’s silence in memory of victims of the Great Patriotic War, lit candles and laid flowers to the memorial.

"To take part in such an event for me was a matter of conscience, honour and duty to people who gave everything for the Victory. It is very pleasant to work in an organization that carefully keeps the memory of the heroic deed of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers," said Ilya Kovtunov, an engineer of relay protection and automation of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division.

At the grave in Migalovo the branch’s staff laid a wreath in memory of fellow countrymen who died in the city and district during the war. This burial is one of the largest burial sites of the city. In 1941 there was fierce fighting. The attention of the German troops was directed to the airfield of Migalovo and to the city of Tver (then - Kalinin). The terrain along the bank of the Volga in the Ryabeevo-Migalovo district became one big mass grave.

"Holding the action "Candle of Memory" reminds us of the grandeur and heroism of our ancestors, thanks to which we live under a peaceful sky...
