Tambovenergo implements digital communication channels in substations

22.06.2018

IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division continues work on the creation of a backbone optical transport communication network and data transmission.

This year the enterprise plans to integrate local computer networks of Sosnovsky, Sampursky and Morshansky Distribution Zones into its main fiber-optic communication line (FOCL). In addition, Tambovenergo will provide digital communication channels to 13 substations with a voltage class of 35/110 kV. At five of these facilities a year ago the remote control system was reconstructed with the possibility of remote control of switching equipment of the power facilities. As a result of the work carried out, specialists of the Grid Control Centre and district dispatch centres of Tambovenergo will be able to receive real-time information about the state of substation equipment.

The use of communication channels based on fiber-optic communication technology will increase the capacity and improve the reliability of the communication channels, as well as save time and costs for operational maintenance of the power grid infrastructure, thanks to the ability to remotely control and monitor energy consumption parameters and necessary operations with power equipment, track state of power supply schemes and ranges of its operation. This will significantly increase the efficiency of prevention, response and elimination of emergencies and, as a result, will contribute to improving the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers.
