Power engineers and representatives of EMERCOM conducted a joint raid in private homes of consumers

In June 2018, a joint raid of representatives of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division and the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Smolensk region took place, during which they visited residents of the private sector of Zadneprovsky district of the city of Smolensk. Particular attention was paid to citizens of the so-called "risk group" - disadvantaged families, lonely elderly citizens and persons leading an antisocial way of life.

The main goal of the event is prevention of fires in the residential sector, the cause of which can be improper operation of electrical appliances, as well as checking gas equipment and meters for electricity and gas. In addition, it was important for the power engineers to identify, prevent and stop facts of non-metered consumption of electricity, and remind consumers that illegal connections to electric grids reduce the quality of electricity supply, can disable electrical appliances, cause malfunctions in the operation of grid equipment, create a threat of electric shock or fire. Just about the rules for the operation of electrical appliances and gas equipment in a private home, as well as the fire safety of private houses, consumers were told by the employees of the Department for Supervisory Activities and Prevention of the Smolensk city of the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Smolensk region.

The participants checked more than 20 houses in the 6th Michurinskaya street, whose owners were at home. During it, no cases of theft were identified. "During the raid, we urged consumers to conscientiously use electricity and reminded that deception and non-contractual use of electricity, that is, unauthorized connection to the power grid, is not only illegal but also dangerous," commented a master of the electricity metering and loss optimization department of Smolensk City Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division Boris Praxin.
