Smolensk power engineers checked electric grid facilities in summer recreation areas for children

Employees of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division by the beginning of the school holidays checked electric facilities near summer children’s recreation camps and school recreational areas in the Smolensk region. The purpose of the conducted measures is to prevent cases of electric injuries of third parties, including children’s injuries.

Before the summer rest of the children, the electric grid facilities were inspected for compliance with the rules. The power engineers checked the condition of doors, fences, guards, earthing devices, the presence of warning signs and posters on power facilities. Also, inspections of the status of dispatching names of all power facilities, the presence of mechanical locks on doors and gates were carried out. Defects on the examined electrical installations, posing a threat to life and health, were not revealed.

In addition, the power engineers during the summer will hold classes in the children’s camps for prevention of electric injuries. The branch plans for three months to visit 12 sites. In the classroom, children will be reminded of electrical safety indoors and outdoors, that it is impossible to climb poles, open locks and penetrate into transformer substations, it is forbidden to play under overhead power lines and throw objects onto wires, it is deadly dangerous to approach a broken wire at an unacceptable distance. Smolenskenergo’s employees will conduct preventive work throughout the summer, covering the maximum number of children’s recreation places in the Smolensk region. With the advent of the school year, the work on the prevention of children’s electric injuries will continue in educational institutions. By the end of the year, the power engineers plan to conduct lessons in 97 schools of the region.
