Energy thieves caused damage to Smolenskenergo for more than 1 million rubles

Employees of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division for 4 months of 2018 carried out a number of measures to prevent non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. Among them, targeted raids, during which the check of metering devices installed by legal entities and persons equal to them is carried out. In total, during the reporting period, the branch’s specialists during the raids in all districts identified 181 facts of non-metered energy consumption. The amount of detected and sold (paid) non-metered consumption was more than 680 thousand kWh for more than 1 million rubles.

In particular, the company received 554 thousand rubles for 15 facts of consumption, bypassing metering devices by legal entities, and 462 thousand rubles for 128 facts of non-metered energy consumption by individuals. Also, 60 thousand rubles were collected for non-contractual consumption of electricity from the energy thieves.

For all the compiled acts, consumers will have to compensate the damage caused to the energy company within the statutory deadlines. In case of non-payment, funds will be collected forcibly in court.

In accordance with Article 7.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, violators of the energy consumption mode - individuals, in addition to paying for the cost of electricity themselves, face fines of up to 10-15 thousand rubles, for officials - up to 30-80 thousand rubles, for legal persons - up to 100 -200 thousand rubles. To malicious violators, more stringent legal measures are applied - power supply disconnections, administrative or even criminal liability. So unscrupulous consumers can be brought to criminal liability with a minimum penalty - a fine of up to 80 thousand rubles, maximum - imprisonment for up to 2 years.
