Specialists of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre revealed a major theft of electricity in Kalininsky district

29.05.2018

The Tver branch of IDGC of Centre continues its intensive work to prevent and suppress facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption of electricity. It includes a set of measures aimed at preventing theft of electricity among consumers.

Employees of the first responding mobile group of internal audit of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division conducted a raid to curb facts of non-metered electricity consumption in the village of Mednoye of Kalininsky district. During the inspection of a large woodworking enterprise, the employees of the branch revealed an unauthorized removal of the seal on the terminal cover of the meter. Thus, employees of the enterprise arbitrarily interfered with its work with the purpose of distorting the results of its measurements. The volume of non-metered consumption was 40,062 kWh in the amount of 270,793 rubles.

"On this case, an appropriate act has been drawn up, which will be submitted to law enforcement agencies to initiate criminal proceedings and collect penalties and fines. Specialists of Tverenergo regularly check, including weekends and holidays, meters and uncover facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption of electric energy, as, unfortunately, such cases have become quite common, especially with the onset of the summer house season," said Sergey Ozerov, the deputy head of the security department of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division.

Power engineers remind that punishment for electricity theft is inevitable. In case of detection of theft of electricity, the violator not only compensates the damage to the power grid company, but is also brought to administrative or criminal liability with payment of a fine. Unauthorized interference in the operation of the electrical grid increases the probability of failure of household appliances, reduces the quality of electricity supply to consumers. In addition, an attempt to unauthorized connection to grids can lead to the death of the offender himself.

IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division encourages consumers to pay attention to available facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption of electric energy and to report them in a timely manner to the 24-hour hot line at 8-800-50-50-115.
