Lipetskenergo’s crews restore the power supply interrupted by bad weather in three districts of the Lipetsk region that suffered from stormy wind

19.05.2018

On the night of 18 to 19 May, due to deterioration of weather conditions and gusts of wind up to 17 m/s, a number of technological violations occurred in grids of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division. First responding mobile crews overnight eliminated the consequences of the disaster in Khlevensky and Zadonsky districts. Restoration work continued with the onset of a light day. The electricity supply in Lipetsky and Usmansky districts has already been restored.

In the liquidation of the consequences of bad weather, 20 first responding and restoration crews of 80 people and 20 vehicles are involved. The main forces were sent to Gryazinsky district. There, a stormy wind blew up roofs of several buildings, the wreckage damaged wires. A few trees also fell that are outside guard zones of power lines, as a result, there was a break in the power lines. The scale of the storm can be judged from the fact that the wind blew off the gilt from domes of the church in Gryazino. Lipetskenergo’s crew will work until full restoration of electricity supply to all consumers.

Due to the difficult meteorological situation in Lipetskenergo, a special operating mode has been maintained for the second day. The energy company continues to monitor the hydrometeorological situation continuously in areas where electric grid facilities are located. A thorough monitoring of the operation of equipment of all electrical installations has been set, and readiness of additional first responding personnel to carry out emergency recovery work has been ensured. If necessary, forces of other branches of IDGC of Centre and contractor organizations will be involved to carry out the restoration work.

The power engineers remind that during the elimination of technological violations, residents should take care and personal safety measures when they are in the guard zone of power lines and transformer substations. Remember, if a wire lying on the ground is detected, it is forbidden to approach it closer than 8 metres! In addition, it is necessary to take measures to prevent people from approaching the place where the wire is broken.
