11.05.2018

Employees of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division took part in solemn events dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On the eve of the holiday, in the framework of the historical-memorial project "The Light of Memory" implemented by the company, the power engineers put in order more than 30 military burial places and memorials, including a monument to the legendary pilot, three times Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub, a monument to heroes-sappers of the 1st Guards Engineering Brigade, who died during the Battle of Kursk.

On 8 May a large group of veterans of the enterprise, employees of the branch-participants of military operations, as well as representatives of the Youth Council laid flowers to the Eternal Flame at the memorial complex "Kursk Bulge" erected in memory of one of the most important battles of the Great Patriotic War.

Then a solemn meeting took place in the executive office of Kurskenergo, which was attended by employees of the branch, as well as veterans and workers of the rear. The meeting was greeted by Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director. He congratulated the veterans gathered in the hall, thanked them on behalf of the whole team for the perfect feat. The event was continued by the creative team of Kurskenergo with the literary and artistic composition "Candle of Memory".

On the Victory Day, traditionally employees and veterans of the branch laid flowers to the Eternal Flame and the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Stepan Perekalsky at the Memorial Complex "In Memory of the Fallen in the Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945" in Kursk. And then they joined the All-Russian action "Immortal Regiment", where in one column with tens of thousands of residents of Kursk they carried portraits of their relatives-front-line soldiers along the central streets of the city.

In an unusual way, the memory of the heroes of the past war was honoured by Vladimir Sherstnev, an employee for complex maintenance and repair of buildings from the administrative and economic department. On one of the pre-holiday days, he sank to the ship "Gorgippia", sunk in 1943 near Anapa, which was attacked by a German aircraft during the landing.

"We are indebted to those who gave us a happy peaceful life," stressed Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director. "Kurskenergo has taken care of veterans for many years, this is one of many of our good traditions."
