Lipetskenergo’s employees stopped power theft of 54 million rubles

08.05.2018

A Lipetsk businessman "improved" the metering system for the sake of economy and will now go on trial.

Power engineers during raids in March revealed a fact of non-metered consumption. A Lipetsk businessman used electricity to bypass the meter. The owner of a production base in the area of the cement plant in Lipetsk, using special jumpers installed before the meter, used electrical equipment, underestimating the actual meter readings. And although the businessman pretended that he saw for the first time an adaptation for energy theft, a crew of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division made an act of non-metered consumption of 60,000 kWh. The entrepreneur will have to pay a fine of more than 400 thousand rubles. In addition, the power engineers sent the case materials to the police to initiate criminal proceedings under Article 165 of the Criminal Code: causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust.

"Actions of energy thieves lead to a decrease in the quality of electricity supply to bona fide consumers. Because of those who arbitrarily interfere with the operation of electrical equipment, voltage surges and power outages occur. In addition, such actions can result in serious injury, both to the violator and to unauthorized persons," Vadim Negrobov, the head of the electricity metering department of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division, told about possible consequences of energy theft.

In total, for the first quarter of this year, Lipetskenergo conducted 55 raids. It revealed non-contractual and non-metered electricity consumption of 11 million kWh. Unfair residents of Lipetsk will have to pay 54 million rubles.

In the event that you independently discovered incorrect operation of a meter or damage to a seal, you need to contact specialists of Lipetskenergo. This will help avoid large fines and charges for stealing electricity. The telephone hotline of power engineers is 8 800 50 50 115, the call is toll-free.
