Within the framework of the historical and memorial project of the company "Light of Memory", employees of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre with the support of the primary trade union organization set up a bike ride in Tver, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Dozens of employees with their families took part in the commemorative event, whose purpose is to recall the historical military moments that took place more than 70 years ago in the region. The route of the bike ride passed along picturesque places along banks of the Volga river, which are directly connected with the history of military operations on the Kalinin Front.
The action included the worship of military relics and the first stop was the Cannon-monument on the bank of the Volga river to which participants of the bike ride laid flowers in memory of soldiers who gave their lives for the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. As part of the prepared excursion, Tverenergo’s employees were told that in 1941 the counteroffensive of the Red Army began. The plan provided for strikes against the enemy by the forces of the Western Front and interaction with the Kalinin and Southwestern fronts in order to defeat the enemy strike groups that sought to capture Moscow from the north and south. In the fierce battles of 5 December, the troops of the 31st Army, overcoming the enemy’s resistance, broke through the front line of defense of the Nazis.
At the end of the bike ride, having overcome more than 60 km of the road, the power engineers laid a wreath at the Mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died near the village of Savvatievo in 1941 during the Great Patriotic War.
"The today’s event became an action of respect and memory to the warriors who died and the veterans of the Great Patriotic War who are now living. The organization of the bike ride has received a lively response from the staff, I am confident that this will initiate a new good tradition and take a worthy place in the calendar of corporate events of Tverenergo," said Maria Shavrina, the head of the social relations department of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division.
