Specialists of Kurskenergo since the beginning of the year identified the theft of electricity for more than 760 thousand rubles

14.04.2018

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continues systematic work to identify and suppress facts of non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. One of the most effective measures are raids, in which workers from Distribution Zones, experts from the electricity metering department and the security department of the branch participate.

For 2 months of 2018, power engineers identified 49 facts of illegal consumption of electricity with a total volume of over 370 thousand kW/h. The amount of damage caused was 772.6 thousand rubles.

So, in January of this year, during a planned inspection of a farm in Fatezhsky district the power engineers found a device in the electricity meter that allows to distort energy consumption readings. The amount of damage caused to Kurskenergo, calculated in accordance with the established tariff, was more than 600 thousand rubles. According to the revealed violation, a relevant act was drawn up, as well as an application for bringing the guilty person to justice, which was transferred to the Inter-Municipal Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia "Fatezhsky" in the Kursk region.

The power engineers remind that the legislation provides for a strict punishment in respect of energy thieves. In case of detection of electricity theft, the violator not only compensates for the damage to the power grid company, but is also brought to criminal or administrative responsibility with payment of a fine. It should be noted that since 1 January 2016 Russia has tightened administrative responsibility for energy theft. In particular, the amount of fines for unauthorized connection and use of electricity has been increased.

Bona fide consumers, who regularly pay bills for electricity, suffer greatly from criminal acts of violators: because of the thefts: there are voltage fluctuations in the grid, household appliances are out of order, the probability of failures, fires and accidents increases.

Kurskenergo refers to residents of the Kursk region with a request to pay bills for electricity in good faith, not to use devices that can distort actual consumption of electricity, and report on known facts of energy theft via the hot line at 8-800-50-50-115, or by sending messages at +7 915-38-000-38 in Telegram and Viber (all calls and messages are toll-free), as well as in Distribution Zones.
