IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division together with the regional department of education and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov announced a regional school contest on energy efficiency, electrical safety and innovation "Energy and Man".
The competition is held in the nominations "theoretical work" and "design work". Pupils of grades 1-11 of regional schools are invited to participate in it. Children are invited to develop a model, make a product, collect a scheme or conduct research on the subject of the competition, and then protect their work in the form of an open presentation. Winners will be determined in three stages: at the school, municipal and regional level. The school stage will be held from 2 April to 21 September, municipal - from 24 September to 26 October. The decisive regional stage will be held on the site of the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov from 29 October to 26 November. Projects will be evaluated by a jury, which will include professional power engineers, university teachers and representatives of the education department of the Belgorod region. Summing up and awarding winners will take place in December, on the eve of the Power Engineers’ Day.
The contest "Energy and Man" has been held since 2015 with the aim of identifying and encouraging gifted children, increasing their motivation for further education in engineering higher education programs. Annually hundreds of children from different districts of the region take part in it. The victory gives students additional points when enrolled in the Institute of Energy, Information Technology and Control Systems of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. In addition, the best projects of pupils of grades 8-10, according to the decision of the organizing committee, without a preliminary selection can apply for participation in the All-Russian competition of scientific and technological projects "Sirius".
