Kurskenergo prepares for the fire-dangerous period

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division began preparations for work in the fire-hazardous period. The power company implements a set of measures aimed at increasing the level of fire protection of electric grid facilities.

Specialists of the branch organize extraordinary inspections of substations (SS) and power lines. Fire line plowing is carried out along the perimeter of power centres that do not have a continuous concrete fence and are located in zones of fire hazardous areas, and digging around wooden poles that may be in the zone of possible ground fires. In total, this work will cover 204 substations and more than 2 thousand poles.

In Distribution Zones of Kurskenergo, cleaning of territories from dry grass, checking of oil tanks and state of gravel backfilling under oil-filled equipment, repair of access roads to water sources and fire hydrants is carried out. Particular attention is paid to the fire protection of outdoor and indoor switchgears, oil and fuel depots, auxiliary and household buildings and structures, mobile repair shops and shift cars located in the territories of enterprises and substations, their provision with serviceable primary fire extinguishing means.

To ensure prompt response to possible fires, the power engineers established cooperation with territorial units of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) of the EMERCOM of Russia, traffic inspectorates, forestry authorities, local administrations. A schedule of control anti-emergency and fire-fighting exercises was prepared with administrative, technical, operating, first responding and repair personnel, with mandatory practical training of the power engineers to use fire extinguishers with their real operation in extinguishing conditioned hot spots (fires).

The implementation of the complex of fire prevention measures contributes to reducing the risk of fire at electric grid facilities and, as a result, ensuring trouble-free and uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the Kursk region.
