In Kursk on the site of the municipal budgetary general education institution "Secondary General School №43 named after G.K. Zhukov" a seminar was held to improve the competence of teachers of junior classes on the formation of safety culture for schoolchildren. It was attended by junior-level teachers and deputy directors for teaching and educational work in schools of the city of Kursk, specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division, engaged in prevention of children’s injuries.
The participants discussed the issues of formation of schoolchildren’s thinking of a safe, healthy lifestyle, a conscious and responsible attitude to personal safety and safety of others.
The power engineers told the participants of the seminar about the target program of IDGC of Centre aimed at reducing risks of injuries to third parties at the company’s power grid facilities, the organizational, technical and awareness-raising activities implemented by Kurskenergo’s employees in the region. Employees of the branch in close cooperation with the Committee of Education and Science of the Kursk region, education departments of districts organize thematic lessons in educational institutions, which introduce children and adolescents to safe conduct rules near power facilities and rules for using electrical appliances. In 2016 - 2017, 300 such classes were organized, more than 3.5 thousand children took part in them. Joint work is also carried out in the part of organizing awareness of the population about the need to comply with the rules of electrical safety. Thematic materials are placed in the media, on websites of administrations of municipalities and schools.
The teachers were told about warning and information signs, installed on power facilities and sad consequences, which lead to violations of the rules of electrical safety. Not so long ago in Rylsky district, when trying to take a spectacular shot (a selfie), a 16-year-old boy climbed a pole of a high-voltage power line and had deadly electric shock. In Saratov, while trying to ride on the roof of an electric train, a child was killed. And his friend spent a long time in a medical facility in serious condition. Unfortunately, this list can be continued.
The participants of the seminar received thematic manuals: a memo with the basic rules of electrical safety, disks with materials on the prevention of children’s electric injuries, a set of thematic posters for placement on information stands of educational institutions.
The teachers thanked Kurskenergo for the work on the prevention of children’s electric injuries and expressed hope for further close, long-term cooperation in this field.
