The qualifying stage of the Olympiad of schoolchildren of "Rosseti" held in Kursk

In Kursk on 31 March and 1 April 2018, the qualifying stage of the Olympiad of schoolchildren of "Rosseti" was held, organized by IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division on the site of the Southwest State University (SWSU). More than 40 pupils of the 9th and 10th grades of comprehensive schools of the city of Kursk and the Kursk region took part in it. Eight of them were children of workers of Kurskenergo.

Before the start of the event, Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director, addressed the participants. He noted that one of the goals of the Olympiad is to involve gifted, capable of creative and innovative thinking schoolchildren in the development of advanced infrastructure and technology projects relevant to the power grid complex of the Russian Federation and wished every participant good luck.

Alexey Pikhtin, Vice-President for International Activities and Informatization of the SWSU, said that the Southwest State University - a partner of Kurskenergo - will provide the participants of the qualifying stage of the Olympiad with an additional point in the score of individual achievements when enrolling in the institution of higher education.

During two days the pupils performed olympiad assignments in physics, mathematics and computer science. In the coming days, the regional jury, which included representatives of Kurskenergo, the Committee of Education and Science of the Kursk region and the SWSU will check and evaluate results of the contenders for the victory.

Winners and prize-winners of the first stage of the Olympiad will receive the right to participate in the second stage, which will be held in Moscow on 21 April. On this day they will perform a set of tasks aimed at testing creative abilities and skills to apply the available knowledge of physics, mathematics and computer science, while solving applied problems in the field of electric power.

The ceremony of awarding winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad of "Rosseti" will be held in Moscow, after which laureates will travel to Sochi to participate in the energy project shift conducted by PJSC "Rosseti" together with one of the educational centres of the sea coast.
