Employees of Kurskenergo in January 2018 revealed the theft of electricity in excess of one million rubles

06.03.2018

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continues systematic work to identify and suppress facts of non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. One of the most effective measures are raids, during which power engineers inspect power lines and meters for illegal connections.

In January of this year, employees of Distribution Zones, specialists of the electricity metering office and security department of the branch identified 20 facts of illegal energy consumption with a total volume of over 160,000 kWh. The specialists of the branch prepared and forwarded applications to territorial police departments on bringing offenders to justice, provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation.

The power engineers remind that the legislation provides for a strict punishment for energy thieves. In case of revealing the fact of theft, the infringer not only compensates the damage to the power grid company, but is also brought to criminal or administrative responsibility with payment of a fine. It should be noted that since 1 January 2016 Russia has tightened administrative responsibility for energy theft. In particular, the amount of fines for unauthorized connection and use of electricity has been increased.

Bona fide consumers, who regularly pay bills for electricity, suffer greatly from criminal acts of violators: because of the thefts there are voltage fluctuations in the grid, household appliances are out of order, the probability of failures, fires and accidents increases.

Kurskenergo addresses to residents of the Kursk region with a request to report on known facts of energy theft by calling the hot line at 8-800-50-50-115, or by sending messages to +7 915-38-000-38 in Telegram and Viber (all calls and messages are toll-free), as well as to Distribution Zones.
