40 residents of the Smolensk region are brought to administrative responsibility for the theft of electricity in 2017

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division constantly work to identify and suppress facts of non-metered consumption of electricity. The main tool to combat theft is monthly raids to check operation of meters and inspection of overhead lines for illegal connections. If the theft is established, an act of non-contractual or non-metered consumption is drawn up, according to which the violator must pay directly to the branch, and an application to law enforcement agencies is also submitted.

According to the results of Smolenskenergo’s work in 2017, the law enforcement agencies initiated 46 cases of administrative violations, according to which 40 persons have already been brought to justice and they have been fined.

Smolenskenergo reminds that illegal connection to the power grid can lead to injuries and death, cause an interruption in power supply or fire.
