Tambovenergo increases reliability of power supply to consumers in the region

21.02.2018

IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division conducts systematic work to improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the Tambov region. An important place in it is given to technical measures, including replacement of taps of leads from power lines to households, using self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). In 2017, Tambovenergo’s specialists replaced 2,980 inputs with a total length of 74.5 kilometres. First of all, the work was carried out at the most energy-intensive and problem areas, including those where consumers’ complaints were registered regarding the quality of electricity.

Due to the presence of insulation, the SIW wire has a much higher strength and durability than conventional wire. Its use on inputs to households makes it possible to exclude unauthorized connections to grids for the purpose of energy theft: as practice shows, most cases of attempts at theft are made at these sections of the lines. In addition, the use of SIW wire can prevent breakages due to sticking and freezing snow and ice and exclude cases of electric injuries.

In 2018, the energy company plans to replace 2,282 inputs to households using SIW wires.
