08.02.2018

Representatives of the trade union organization and the Veterans’ Council of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division took part in the commemorative event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Kursk from the Nazi invaders. At the memorial to the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War, the power engineers together with top officials and guests of the city laid flowers to the Eternal Flame and honoured the memory of fighters who committed an immortal feat with a minute of silence.

The representatives of Kurskenergo also laid flowers at the monument to Stepan Perekalsky, a commander of the 1089th Infantry Regiment, one of the liberators of the city. Colonel Perekalsky on 8 February 1943, raising his men in the attack on Yamskaya Gora Street, was mortally wounded. Today the street bears his name.

"Every year we come here to honour the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the city. And today it is important for us not only to preserve the memory of the deceased heroes, but also to convey the history of their exploits to the younger generation," stressed Nikolay Kalinin, Chairman of the trade union committee of Kurskenergo.
