Voronezhenergo’s employees paid tribute to liberators of Voronezh

25.01.2018

25 January, employees of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division took part in events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Voronezh from the Nazi invaders. At a solemn meeting in the Voronezh Patriots’ Park, the power engineers together with representatives of large enterprises, cadets of military schools, schoolchildren and residents of the city, paid with a minute of silence tribute to the memory of soldiers-liberators and laid flowers and wreaths to the eternal fire.

The liberation of Voronezh is one of the most significant dates in the history of the city. The power engineers made a great contribution to its return to peaceful life. After setting up operation of temporary electrical installations for a month, they helped restore lighting and water supply to inhabitants of the capital of the Black Soil Region and enabled enterprises to resume production of necessary products for the front. For heroic labour to provide electricity to the national economy of the region in difficult war years, 29 workers of the Voronezh energy system were awarded orders and medals.
