As of 1 January 2018, the number of lighting points in the service area of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division exceeded 200 thousand. The main increase is due to the connection of outdoor lighting of roads of regional and district importance, along which last year more than 5 thousand new lighting fixtures appeared.
All 100% of serviced lighting fixtures are energy-saving. The program for switching to energy efficient outdoor lighting was completed in 2015. The power company provides the current operation of outdoor lighting networks on the basis of contracts concluded with municipal entities of the region. In 2017, in accordance with the contracts, the branch replaced a total of 4,642 lighting fixtures and more than 15 thousand lamps. Preference is given to lighting fixtures based on sodium lamps of high pressure, which are characterized by a long service life, the highest degree of light output and are well-proven both from a functional and economic point of view.
127 out of 200 thousand operated lighting points (63.4%) are covered by an automated control system for outdoor lighting, which allows to remotely monitor the status of networks. Intelligent lighting works in every district of the region, lines and individual lighting points are controlled by 3,674 control cabinets of the automated control system. Special equipment remotely captures all network parameters: active and reactive power, voltage, amperage, sets economic modes, in which lighting can be switched on partially at certain times. All data on how much electricity is consumed, how many devices are faulty, which line has failed, arrive at the dispatcher’s console and enable power engineers to more quickly eliminate violations in the outdoor lighting of towns and villages in the Belgorod region. As a set, the energy-efficient technologies in outdoor lighting can save about 13.7 million kWh per year or 60 million rubles of budgetary funds.
Since 2012, the region has been implementing a long-term target program "Improvement and development of the transport infrastructure of the Belgorod Region for 2011-2017", within which specialists of the branch annually implement measures for grid connection of outdoor lighting networks. From 2012 to 2017 along the renewed highways of the region the branch connected about 11,7 thousand modern lighting fixtures. Last year, electricity was provided for outdoor lighting on motorways with a total length of 61.8 kilometres, including on the sections of Belgorod-Streletskoye, Belgorod-Shebekino-Volokonovka, Novy Oskol-Valuiki-Rovenki, Belgorod-Pavlovsk near Korocha, Novy Oskol, Biryuch and Alekseevka, and also at an entrance to the town of Alekseevka, the sanatorium "Krasivo". A total of over 1.5 thousand new lighting points have been connected to the centralized power supply there.
