Implementation of the program for clearing and expansion of ROWs of Kostromaenergo goes on schedule

29.12.2017

For 11 months of 2017, power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division cleared 1,675.3 hectares of ROWs of 0.4-110 kV overhead lines from tree and shrub vegetation, having spent 43.03 million rubles. Clearing of ROWs was conducted by Kostromaenergo’s employees all the year round, regardless of the weather conditions.

Along with clearing the ROWs the branch expanded ROWS of 0.4-110 kV overhead lines. For 11 months the total amount of expansion was 250 hectares.

Clearing and expanding the ROWs of power lines are necessary to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers. With strong gusts of wind, trunks and branches of trees falling on overhead lines can damage power grid equipment and cause technological failures.

"Clearing the ROWs is an obligatory component of the repair program of Kostromaenergo. To optimize this activity contractors are engaged every year, performing work in a mechanized way, equipped with modern specialized vehicles. For the purpose of clearing the ROWs by own forces, crews were formed at sections of services of power lines and in Distribution Zones and a modern powerful bulldozer was purchased," stressed Andrey Meluzov, Deputy Chief Engineer for production assets management and development of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division.
