Bryanskenergo held an emergency drill

IDGC of Centre - Bryanskenergo division in the framework of the preparation for the winter held extraordinary exercises to eliminate mass outages of electric grid facilities caused by impact of hazardous meteorological phenomena. In addition to employees of the branch, representatives of regional and local authorities, the regional department of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, other energy enterprises and organizations operating in the region took part in them.

According to the plan of the exercises, on 22 November, the weather in the Bryansk region deteriorated sharply - squally wind rose to 20 m/s with icy rain. This led to massive power outages in Karachevsky, Navlinsky and Komarichsky districts. In total, 44 settlements were de-energized, including 27 socially significant facilities. Almost six and a half thousand consumers were without light. The situation in Karachevsky district was aggravated by the disconnection of the transformer at the 110 kV substation "Karachevskaya", which occurred as a result of catching fire.

The situation was immediately taken under control at the crisis management centre of IDGC of Centre and the management centre for ensuring security of power supply in the Bryansk region. The management of the crisis management centre of Bryanskenergo decided to introduce a special operating mode. The power engineers informed about the situation and clarified the procedure for interaction with district authorities, local units of the Ministry for Emergency Situations, housing and communal services and the forestry administration. 9 first responding restoration crews of local Distribution Zones of Bryanskenergo were sent to eliminate consequences of the emergency situation. Mobile crews of the branch were brought to higher readiness, reserve sources of power supply were prepared for use.

In addition, first responding restoration crews of Unechsky, Dubrovsky, Mglinsky and Vygonichsky Distribution Zones of Bryanskenergo, a mobile crew of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division and a repair crew of Bryansky Distribution Zone of a branch of PJSC FGC UES Novgorodskoye PMES arrived to help their colleagues in the areas affected by the bad weather. Staff of a fire department of the EMERCOM for the Bryansk region of the city of Karachev arrived to extinguish the fire in the transformer at the substation "Karachevskaya".

As a result of coordinated actions of all participants of the exercises, the conditional emergency situation was promptly liquidated. In the weather-affected areas, the normal power supply scheme was restored. The organizers of the exercises highly appreciated the professionalism and coherence of the actions of their participants.

"Such exercises are very important for the region. They allow us to work out the interaction of all the structures involved in eliminating consequences of disconnections in case they occur in reality. Thanks to such trainings, it is possible to shorten the time for eliminating consequences of a non-emergency situation, in the shortest possible time, to restore power supply to consumers," stressed Sergey Kosarev, Deputy Director of the Department for Fuel and Energy Complex and Housing and Utilities in the Bryansk Region.
