Kurskenergo’s specialists acquainted students with the power engineering profession

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division within the framework of cooperation agreements with specialized educational institutions of the region conducts large-scale career guidance work with students. Specialists of the enterprise conduct tours to the branch facilities for them, acquaint them with the history and the present day of Kursk energy.

Last week more than 100 students of the Kursk State Agricultural Academy named after I.I. Ivanov (Kursk GSHA) and the Kursk Railway Technical School - MIIT branch visited the Kursk Region Energy History Museum and Kurskenergo’s Grid Control Centre (GCC).

In the Museum guests were told about the history of the Kursk power system creation, its leaders and honoured workers, demonstrated with an interactive map the phased electrification of settlements of the Kursk region. In the Grid Control Centre the students saw how the management of the power grid complex in the region was organized, got acquainted with modern equipment, through which the operating staff in real time monitors the operation of power facilities and receives data necessary for rapid decision-making in emergency situations.

The participants of the tour thanked the power engineers for a useful and rich meeting. "For students such tours are very important. They help them learn the specifics of the work of power engineers and make an informed choice of the profession," stressed Elena Mezentseva, a lecturer at the Department of General Disciplines of the Kursk State Agricultural Academy.

Until the end of the year, the power engineers will conduct six more tours for students of specialized higher and secondary special educational institutions of the region.
