Smolenskenergo increased reliability of power supply to consumers in the Smolensk region

23.11.2017

As part of the investment program performance in November 2017, power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division implemented a project to reconstruct electric grids of Smolensky district (Smolensky Distribution Zone). In particular, power lines that go out from the substations "Odintsovo" and "Trudilovo" were reconstructed, which significantly increased the reliability of power supply for consumers in the district.

Within the framework of this project, employees of Smolensky Distribution Zone installed four vacuum reclosers produced by "Tavrida Electric". "The use of reclosers on overhead power lines from the substations "Odintsovo" and "Trudilovo" will not only significantly improve the reliability of electricity supply to consumers, but also automate processes of locating and isolating faults on the lines, reduce costs of maintaining the electric grid, optimize work of operating personnel, the level of operation of 10 kV distribution grids," commented Vyacheslav Nikitin, the chief of Smolensky Distribution Zone.

It should be noted that this is not the first experience of using reclosers in Smolensky Distribution Zone. So, in 2015 the 10 kV distribution grid from the substation "Zavodskaya" was automated, five reclosers were installed on overhead lines. In 2016, 6 kV power lines from the substation "Pechersk" were equipped with reclosers. Design and estimate documentation has been developed for installation of three reclosers on overhead lines of the substation "Zapadnaya" next year. After their installation, two overhead lines of the substation "Zapadnaya" and the substation "Pechersk" will be merged into a single controlled and automated distribution grid of a new generation.

Improving the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers in the Smolensk region is a priority task of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division. Work in this direction will be continued.
