Tverenergo’s power engineers supported the citywide game for schoolchildren "Ecofest"

23.11.2017

Employees of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre presented their cognitive platform at the citywide game for high school students "Ecofest". The event was organized by the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth together with the Department of Education of the Tver Administration.

To involve as many Tver schoolchildren as possible in the "Ecofest", it was decided to play the game for three days, during which schoolchildren from grades 8-10 from 48 city schools visited it. At its core, the event is a tour of "ecological stations", at each of which the children were asked to perform a task on energy saving.

According to the organizers, the site of Tverenergo became one of the brightest and most interesting at the festival. The power engineers in a fascinating form told about energy saving. The schoolchildren learned what benefits can be gained by replacing conventional incandescent lamps with energy saving and LED lights, and how to properly use household appliances to save electricity.

The experts of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre touched upon the topic of electrical safety. Particular attention was given by the power engineers to a fatally dangerous hobby for modern youth - selfie at power facilities. The schoolchildren were reminded once again that it is strictly forbidden to choose electrical installations, transformer substations, power lines and poles of power lines for photography. Fans of original pictures were invited to be photographed with a real power engineer’s helmet on or in dielectric boots. To consolidate the acquired knowledge the power engineers gave colourful printed media products developed by IDGC of Centre to the schoolchildren.

"Our employees regularly conduct energy saving lessons in educational institutions of the region, trying to explain to the younger generation that effective use of energy resources not only contributes to significant savings in money and helps extend the life of household appliances, but also positively affects our ecology. We thank the Department of Education of the Tver Administration for the invitation to take part in such a large-scale event and the opportunity to remind the children once again about energy saving. In the year of ecology, this topic is especially relevant," said Alexey Smorodin, the head of the energy saving and power efficiency improvement Office of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division.
