Smolensk power engineers carried out the work planned for 2017 to expand and clear ROWs

22.11.2017

As part of the implementation of production programs, specialists of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division completed work on clearing and expanding ROWs in the service area of the grid company in the Smolensk region, scheduled for 2017. The implementation of these programs will ensure high-quality and reliable electricity supply to consumers and reduce the risk of a line outage due to falling trees. In addition, it is more convenient to perform work on cleared lines in the process of the line operation.

The power engineers implement work plans for clearing ROWs annually. The most active phase of their implementation is a spring-summer period, but the work on clearing and expanding ROWs continues, as a rule, until the end of September.

Clearing ROWs of overhead lines from woody and shrubby vegetation within the scope of maintenance and operation was carried out in 2017 by IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division in the amount of 449.92 hectares on 110 kV overhead lines, 403.98 hectares on 35 kV overhead lines and 523.19 hectares on 6-10 kV overhead lines. 48.06 million rubles were spent to implement the work.

The annual plan for the expansion of ROWs of 6-110 kV overhead lines was fully completed and amounted to 560 hectares.

In the course of the work, the power engineers try not to disconnect lines as much as possible, so as not to cause inconvenience to electricity consumers. All work is carried out in strict accordance with the safety rules in the operation of electrical installations.

As the specialists note, clearing and expansion of ROWs is an important area of activity for companies engaged in transmission and distribution of electricity. Clearing and expansion are designed to improve the quality of power supply to consumers, to eliminate emergency situations caused by short circuits due to the contact of wires and trees. In addition, on a wide clearing in winter, there is less snow formation on wires, better conditions for electricians for inspection.
