Belgorodenergo: The results of the regional contest "Energy and Man" summed up

The annual children’s contest "Energy and Man", organized by IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division with the support of the Department of Education of the region and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, was completed in the region. More than 60 young researchers from 17 districts defended their projects on the topic of electrical safety and careful attitude to energy.

The regional stage was preceded by the school and municipal ones. The finals included 50 best projects in two categories: theoretical work and practical (layout, product, scheme, device). They were presented to the jury in the composition of scientists of the university and professional power engineers.

As a member of the competition jury, Maxim Telyatnikov, the leading engineer of the industrial safety and production control department of Belgorodenergo, stressed that for many children participation in the competition can be the first step to choose a future profession. It is possible that these guys in the future will be engaged in scientific work related to discovery of new efficient technologies for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, will create innovative materials and equipment for construction of energy infrastructure.

First Vice-President of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Nikolay Shapovalov reminded schoolchildren that winners and prize-winners will receive additional points upon admission to the Institute of Energy, Information Technologies and Control Systems of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. And Elena Khomenko, the head of the department for development of priority areas of the regional education system, explained that the best of the best can be recommended for participation in the All-Russian project competition "Sirius". The contest allows schoolchildren to try their hand at practice, to find out if they want to link their lives with energy.

More than thirty pupils became winners and prize-winners by results of open protection of projects.

In the younger age group, two works were the best: "Influence of the flickering of the light flux of electric lamps on human health", presented by pupils of grade 3 of Stary Oskol Secondary School No. 27 with in-depth study of individual subjects Evgeny Bolotsky, Yana Igumnova and Diana Ispravnikova, and "Renewable energy sources: energy biomass" of a pupil of grade 4th of Gymnasium No. 3 of the city of Belgorod Timofey Vorontsov.

In the middle age category, according to the number of points scored, a project of seventh graders from the Novenskoye Secondary School in Ivnyansky district Yaroslav Furmanov, Valeriya Grigoryeva and Marina Dmitrieva "Use of kinetic energy of the oncoming airflow arising from the movement of an electric vehicle to charge its battery". In the nomination "Theoretical work" the projects of a pupil of grade 5 of Razumenskaya Secondary School No. 2 Egor Merzlikin "Study of the light mode of school classrooms" and a pupil of grade 7 of School No. 45 of the city of Belgorod Kirill Trubaev "Study of the dependence of the power of the wind generator against the wind speed" took the first place.

Among pupils of grades 9-11, an eleventh-grader of Secondary School No. 16 in Belgorod, Vladislav Zemlyakov, and a ninth-grader at the Veselovskaya School named after Hero of Socialist Labour Y.T. Kirilikhin Maria Sytenko distinguished themselves with a stand for studying electrical safety rules.

The award ceremony for the winners and prize winners will be held in December at the central office of Belgorodenergo.
