Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division together with representatives of law enforcement bodies conducted an electrical safety lesson for troubled teenagers. The event was held in one of the general educational institutions of the city of Kurchatov, its participants were children who had previously committed unlawful actions, or who were registered with the Inspectorate for Minors.
The lesson did not look like a standard class. The head of the operational and technological group of Kurchatovsky Distribution Zone of Kurskenergo, Valentina Zvyagintseva, tried to make it as open as possible for communication.
She told the children about the basic rules of electrical safety, about how to behave properly near power grid facilities, why you must not climb poles of power lines and transformer substations and do "selfie" on them. Valentina Zvyagintseva reminded them of the tragedy that occurred in the spring in Rylsky district, when a group of students of the agricultural college, after returning home after the party, ignored the rules of electrical safety and climbed a pole of a 110kV overhead line to make "selfie". One of the young men at the descent from the pole approached the unacceptable distance to the wire of phase "A" and was fatally struck by electric shock.
Then it was time for questions. The teenagers asked about the rules of electrical safety, about how electricity affects the human body, told about their cases of "handling" it. A special interest in the teenage audience was caused by a robot simulator "Gosha", with the help of which the power engineers practice to provide first aid to victims with electric shock. The dummy has a built-in computer that monitors the correctness of the first aid, reports errors made during the revival, and in the case of the correct implementation of the resuscitation measures - imitates the reactions of a person coming to life - the appearance of a heartbeat and a pulse on the carotid artery.
Andrey Skotarenko, the head of the department for affairs of minors of the inter-municipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, stressed that such activities are especially important for troubled adolescents: "These children are at risk, so the knowledge of life safety systems, including with respect to electricity, it is especially necessary for them."
Kurskenergo’s power engineers conduct electricity safety lessons as part of the implementation of the comprehensive program of IDGC of Centre for prevention of children’s electric injuries. Since the beginning of 2017, more than 3,000 children have participated in them. Specialists from Distribution Zones of Kurskenergo, the training centre for operating personnel, as well as engineers of the industrial control and labour protection department, members of the Youth Council are involved in the conduct of electrical safety lessons.
