Specialists of Kostromaenergo for nine months revealed more than 950 facts of electricity theft

02.11.2017

IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo continues systematic work to identify facts of non-contractual and non-metered electricity consumption. Over 9 months of 2017, specialists of the electricity metering department and the security unit conducted more than 1,000 targeted raids, during which more than 950 facts of electricity theft were revealed.

In some cases, employees of regional offices of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia were involved in the raids. The application materials on the facts of unauthorized energy consumption identified by the security unit of IDGC of Centre were sent to law enforcement agencies, and often served as the basis for instituting criminal proceedings against the energy thieves.

So, in fulfilling the application for sealing a meter in one of shops in Zavolzhsky district, Kostroma power engineers found that there were no seals previously installed on the meter. The power engineers compiled acts on non-metered consumption, and the amount of damage was calculated at maximum capacity. As a result, the amount of damage collected from the offender amounted to about 114 thousand rubles.

Checking the energy consumption of one of Kostroma’s enterprises showed that the meter installed there recorded less energy than the equipment consumes. Arriving police officers took the meter. After checking it, it turned out that a device interfering with the operation of the counting mechanism was installed in the meter. The amount of damage was about 1.5 million rubles. All acts of verification in this case were sent to the police.

And in Kostromsky district in one of the sanatoria during a raid, a fact of non-contractual consumption was discovered: lighting fixtures were unauthorizedly installed on power poles and connected to the grid for providing street lighting. The electricians suspended the electricity supply to the lighting devices, drafted an appropriate act and prepared a notification on the introduction of the power supply limitation mode. Now the owners are being waited for at Kostromaenergo to pay the bill for non-contractual consumption and signing a grid connection agreement. If, within ten days, the bill is not paid, Kostromaenergo will apply to the court for a claim for compulsory collection of debts.

Kostromaenergo intends to consistently seek compensation for damage caused by unscrupulous consumers.
