26.10.2017

In October 2017, there was a joint raid of representatives of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division and the General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for the Smolensk region, during which they visited residents of the private sector of Zadneprovsky district of the city of Smolensk.

The goal of power engineers is to identify, prevent and suppress facts of non-metered consumption of electricity. It is worth noting that unlawful connections to electric grids reduce the quality of electricity supply, at the same time the risk of electrical appliances becoming inoperable increases, there is risk of disturbances in the operation of grid equipment, risk of electric shock or fire. The raid was joined by employees of the department for supervision and prevention of the Smolensk city of the General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for the Smolensk region, who in turn reminded the population about the rules for operation of electrical appliances, and also told about the consequences of their violation, because with the onset of cold weather, the risk of fires for this reason increases.

The inspectors of fire supervision and power engineers gave the residents thematic memos.

"We carry out complex work to counter the theft of electrical energy: we improve metering systems for consumed energy, we monitor the activity of sellers of "modified" meters and neodymium magnets, we conduct explanatory discussions with the population, interact with law enforcement agencies to bring offenders to justice and do much more for identification and suppression of unauthorized actions at power facilities. One of the forms of work is the organization of regular raids to identify non-metered and non-contractual use of electricity," commented Dmitry Vlasov, the head of the department for operation and development of metering systems at Smolenskenergo.
